Why list a boat with Kent Little?

You’ve made the decision to sell your boat. Selling a boat is not unlike buying one. You will still need someone who has the experience and knowledge to get the job done. Kent Little has:

EXPERIENCE

  • Over 25 years of selling just yachts and successfully bringing buyers and sellers together.
  • Over 25 years of outfitting new and brokerage yachts for world cruising. Many of my customers sail and boat here, but many have cruised throughout the US and Caribbean. Several have even circumnavigated.
  • I am also one of if not the oldest Florida Licensed Broker in Texas, (License #1815) and have been since 1993. I have traveled throughout the US, the Caribbean and Europe to represent my clients and their interests.
  • I am also a Regional Captain for YBAA, the Yacht Brokers Association of America (www.ybaa.org).
  • I am also the first Broker in Texas to receive accreditation from the YBAA as a CPYB, Certified Professional Yacht Broker. www.cpyb.net. To date fewer than 400 brokers nationally have received this accreditation. All the brokers in my office are now CPYB. Few other Brokerage houses have any CPYB members.
  • I am very experienced in selling boats to buyers from out of state there by increasing the marketing potential of a boat to a wider market.
  • I have also been the top salesman for Sea Lake Yacht Sales since coming here in 1991.
KNOWLEDGE

over 25 years of selling boats has brought me directly in contact with nearly every brand imaginable. I have vast product knowledge of both power and sail boats whether they are US built, Far East designs or European. Whatever boat you are interested in, chances are I have sold one or been on one.

INTEGRITY

Too many people promise too much and delivery to little. By working with a smaller select group of clients one on one, I have the time to sit down with you and discuss your wants and needs. The goal is not to list every boat I see but to see and know every boat I list. I can provide many references from past-satisfied clients.

When looking for a broker to list your boat you should be asking yourself these questions:

  • Is my broker experienced not only in sales, but YACHT Sales and how long has he been doing this? I have over 25 years experience exclusively in Yacht Sales.
  • Is the office this broker works for also have the same level of professionals who will treat my boat just like it was their listing if the listing agent is gone? The brokers in my office act as a team in every listing. We all help each other.
  • Can my broker accurately give me the data needed so that together we can really see what my boat is worth and evaluate not only what we should ask but also how long it might take to sell? I do a free market analysis with every listing inquiry.
  • Is my broker particular about what he lists? Is he trying to manage a lot of listings or a few quality listings? My motto is I personally inspect every boat I list. I do not list every boat I see.
  • Does he have resources and contacts in the industry to get the word out on my boat? Is he going to co-broker it or withhold it from the market and try to sell it himself? Over 25 years of co brokering with other brokers has built me a network from which to work from in buying or selling. If a co-broker calls me about one of my listings they can be assured I will work with him to the best of my ability to help him sell the boat as well.
  • Is my broker licensed to buy and sell in the state of Florida? Yes Fl License #1815 which is also accepted in the state of California.
  • Has my broker passed the Certified Professional Yacht Broker exam? YES not only was I the first broker in Texas to receive the accreditation, but I was also instrumental in helping to set up a national accreditation to begin with and also have now gotten everyone in my office accredited. Sea Lake was the first office in the US to have ALL CPYB Brokers!
  • What will my broker do that will set my boat apart from the others that are on the market?

    • I will personally inspect your boat and make suggestions of what you should do to the boat to maximize her dockside appeal and also obtain the highest asking price.
    • I do more detailed listings than most brokers. Ask to see a sample. Carefully analyzing the data and securing a proper listing is only part of the job.
    • I will do detailed photographs of your boat, more than just what is listed online, so that if an out of state buyer calls that buyer will have in his hands within the hour photos that will show him why your boat is better than any of the others listed.
  • Is my broker using state of the art technology to sell my boat? I was using digital photos and video before anyone else and I am also experimenting now with web services that will allow me to do a virtual tour or a digital video walk thru of a vessel. Once I see that this actually works, I will incorporate it into most listings.

§ Will my broker keep me informed? I will also keep you informed monthly, usually via email, about how our asking price is holding up as compared to what else is on the market. It does neither of us any good to list a boat and just wait for someone to come along. We have to be proactive about the price and what is happening in the market.

Last, do not believe competitors who state “Don’t list your ‘used’ boat with a broker who sells ‘new’ boats because they’ll just use your boat to sell new ones”. That is just not true. New boat dealers such as myself have a lot more buyers inquiring and coming through the doors to see what is new and exciting. Not all those folks can afford new boats. Most buy used boats. Every year I sell way more used boats than new boats. Every year my company sells more USED brokerage boats than ANY OTHER Texas broker. I’m the only broker who will actually print out and show you what I sell year to year-just ask!
